A Relationship Day

Today has been full of important relationships. I have met my father, my good friend and chatted with many other friends. I also wrote in the writing course about relationships.

To start the day, I went to see my father in the elderly care home. We also went to his former house and went together to sauna. It was a great and very valuable time to me, although I’m not so sure whether my father was fully able to value it. I was there alone with him, and we had a pretty tight schedule, but everything went well. Once my grip was not good enough to prevent him to falling on the shower floor but luckily nothing worse happened. He was not even angry with me due to that slip.

After that I went for a doctor. A nice visit there, nothing extraordinary to report here. It was a good visit and an important relationship in my life, too – I mean doctors in general. I have many of them and most of the patient relationships are satisfactory or even deep and great. I’m also lucky to have the health insurance that I happened to take in 2013. It has clearly been one of the best investments of my life; so, thanks to that bank officer, too, who sold it to me.

Before the doctor I got message from A, one of my good friends from Development Studies. She asked me for a coffee, and we had a great time together. We discussed many things and laughed at her sister’s baby learning to eat with a spoon. I feel we are quite similar types of persons with A, especially what comes to sensitivity. She (and I) have read the Elaine N. Aron’s Highly Sensitive Person and found it significant to us.

I also made more connections today! I “launched” my blog if I can use that term. A encouraged me to create an Instagram page for my blog and also share my texts there. I did and got some help from her. I send like ten messages to different WhatsApp groups to promote the new Instagram page and thus this blog. There was an opening also in this – I used my own pictures (at this point still with sunglasses) in the Instagram page and thus revealed something more of me into the project. I hope I can thank A for this in some time.

And finally, I wrote in the Daily OM course about important relationships or connections of my life. They were, to name a few, E, T, J-C, J, and many others. Especially a couple of stories are worth mentioning: the one with E in the archipelago of Turku, when we went with one electric bike and a trailer to camp and bike around the archipelago. We once encountered a lady who said: “Jag tror att dom var bara för hundar och små barn” [I thought those were only for dogs and small children] about our trailer. But it was two grown-ups then 😀

Also, one story that warms my heart, is the first encountering with J-C. I was coming from a retreat, and we met in a bus. I immediately thought “Hello, friend!” when he sat on the seat opposite to mine. Yet, I only said: “Hello.” A great friendship has started from that, and I also remember that he said: “Rien ne passe pas au hazard!” or Nothing in life happens by accident. Maybe he heard the friend between the lines?

How you, my reader, describe the meaning of relationships in your life? Tell me about your best friend, for example!
