In the silence
comes also the mud
into the presence,
mixing with the clear water.
But will it be transformed
into a lotus flower?
All the mud,
so dark and ugly;
will it ever clear up?
All the mud,
so stinky and slimy;
will it ever fade away?
But what is the silence
without the deep sediments?
Will it ever work,
if I don’t go deep in it?
Oh, the surface water!
Wouldn’t it be nice to ride on the waves?
Oh, the sandy beaches!
Wouldn’t it be nice to lie there?
But the mud down there,
will it ever transform,
if I don’t go and see?
But the surface water,
will it ever really be clear,
while the mud is still there?
I need to caress the mud,
to take good care of it
to make it grow.
And it will be transformed
into a lotus flower.
And then,
only then,
will my mind’s pond be clear and blooming!
